| The Mountain Lion (Felis concolor) also known as the Cougar, Panther or Puma, is the most widely distributed cat in the Americas. Mountain Lions are solitary, strongly territorial hunters who, unlike most cat species, may be active during the day. The mountain lion had one of the most extensive distributions of all American terrestrial mammals. It ranged from coast to coast in North America, and from southern Argentina to northern British Columbia. However, hunting and habitat destruction have greatly restricted their range. This sibling pair was photographed at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ |
